Description

The 2014 Industry Connections series will focus on perspectives from people working in industry and how they successfully transitioned to these positions.


The speaker will give a short presentation and then open the topic up for Q & A. Please be willing to participate in the discussion. This event is for a limited number of postdocs and a light lunch will be provided.


This month will feature Lynne Friedmann, Senior Writer at San Diego Supercomputer Center.

Speaker Bio

Trained in journalism and biology, Lynne Friedmann is a freelance science journalist who has written on topics from astrophysics to zoology for print and online media. She is editor of ScienceWriters magazine, published by the National Association of Science Writers, the only national publication on the profession of science writing. An award-winning professional, she was selected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for “leadership and significant contributions to the public communication of science and technology.” She has been a conference speaker throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, Japan, and Qatar. She teaches a popular science-writing course through UCSD Extension, and is co-author of Managing the Trust Portfolio: Science Public Relations and Social Responsibility, a chapter in “Science and the Media,” published by the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (2010).
